Almaz can be summed up pretty easily, in fact the name given to him through a good chunk of the game does it pretty well: Fake Hero. He is very much an incompetent fail hero wannabe. But, that is not to say he doesn't have the potential. Almaz has a big heart, and noble ambitions, but he brings himself down through his cowardice. Almaz' first reaction to things is to run away as soon as possible, and only when situations involve his princess does he try and face them. His draws strength form the thought of protecting her, and his feelings for her.
On top of being a coward, Almaz is also easily distracted, things like change on the ground will have him derail a conversation or lose track of what's going on. He does eventually get back to the topic, but he easily takes detours. Despite this, he does tend to be the most focused on a goal than the rest of the party, but this could also be that the main goal affects him the most.
Almaz starts off with the tittle of Wannabe Hero, a title he made himself, this pretty much sums him up. He is a hero and super hero worshiper and fanboy. He reads super hero comics, watches super hero tv and anime, plays super hero games, reads super hero books, if it's about heroes he's probably had contact with it in some way. He bases his entire life on the Hero's Code, and idol worships Aurum a famous hero from his world. But, early on his title is removed, and is replaced with a demon in training one. After this, there are a few changes. His resolve for things weakens a bit, and he is more prone to thinking demonic things as time passes. Though when he realizes how wrong his thoughts might get he stops, it still bothers him greatly they came up at all.
Almaz is the pragmatic one in the group, as well as the sarcastic one, though in a more mild sense. He can both be the most optimistic as well as the most pessimistic, depending on the situation. If anything involves the princess though, he will always be optimistic. In general he is more optimistic than he is pessimistic and will work hard, despite his short comings, for good.
Almaz is also easily bullied, hardly any effort made will make him cave, but he does grow a bit throughout the game, and does get a little stronger. Still, both Mao and Princess Sapphire can manipulate him easily. This relates to one of his strengths as well, which is easily adapting to new situations. He mostly does this by just simply accepting it and working with it, and is very much related to his easily bullied nature.

Almaz has three unique skills to himself, the first is Spinning Sowrdance, which is a take off of Zorro from One Piece. It's a powerful blade attack that can be preformed at range. The second one is Running Crosses, another powerful blade attack involving cutting the very air and summoning down a light show. And then Help Me Goddess which is another powerful none elemental attack.
He also has an added attack P. Burgundy as a DLC character in Disgaea 2 PSP, this skill involves taking wings like a bird and attacking from the air.
On top of those he also has basic sword attacks, such as Blade Rush, Hurricane Slash, X-Level Flurry, and potentially more. All are sword attacks, but he can also use spears and guns and gain their special moves as well.

Almaz doesn't really have anything particularly game breaking as he isn't one of the over powered demons.

Almaz like near all characters from Disgaea operates on the rule of funny, game mechanics, and what 4th wall we shattered that a long time ago. So he will be "knowledgeable" about things, but can be disregarded as crazy. (For example mentioning a "strange format game" or "What are the writers thinking!") But of course such things are sparing and only when mentioning such would be funny.

Introduction
Welcome to the Netherworld! Netherworld Academy, not to be confused with Netherworld Academy Evil Institute though.
It is unfortunate you now have a huge debt, it's also unfair, but because this is the Netherworld there's not much you can do about it but try and pay it off, or complete the story but that might take a while. You can also try and level up and defeat the Overlord Dean, but that will probably be harder than it's worth since I'm sure he's over 100 even without stronger enemy bills passed.
What is this place?
This is a Netherworld. A Netherworld is a place where demons live. Though, these are probably not the sort of demons you know, if they are the sort of demons you do know you probably already know what's going on or the mechanics feel familiar enough to figure it out. For everyone else, the Netherworld is a place that is usually connected to a Human world. I think anyway. I only really know my world and my worlds Netherworld. But I do know there are multiple Netherworlds connected together!
oh yeah.
So what is the dimensional guide thing?
The dimensional guide is the person who can use the dimensional transport! It sends you to different parts of the Netherworld. I think it's also how they got us all here. It's hard to use so you can't go anywhere without someone to use it. Since it's an NPC thing always don't count on learning how. But you can probably ask them to go to various local places, and maybe meet new people if you bass the right bills.
What is the point of "bills"?
Bills are passed by the Student Council, or senate or whatever they're called here.... You can get lots of stuff through them. Like you can get more expensive items from the store, or you can get more people to help you out in battles, you can get stronger enemies or access to different locations. Pretty much anything you might want.
They keep denying me! How can I get anything if they hate me so much?
Well... you can always try again, level up more, level up your items and see if they like you more later? Try getting more people to help you out too. Though you can force a bill... I wouldn't recommends it. It just seems like you're being a sore loser. Ah... but if it's really really important there is a way to do it....
What are you talking about get more levels?
Go fight enemies till your stats are increased and your level is higher.

You never did say much about demons themselves.
They're not that different from humans, actually they're a lot less complicated. They pride themselves on being "evil" but it's not really an evil evil, it's sort of like being bad but not horrible.... I guess it's like always being tundere?
So where do I go level anyway? And what about making my items stronger?
You could talk to the dimensional guide to go somewhere, but to make your items stronger you need to talk to the person who manages the Item World, choose the item to go inside and then... fight your way through.
It looks like this, oh and sometimes there's pirates.
